Insurance and Valuation

We have always worked closely with insurance companies and loss adjustors, and also handled our client's claims on their behalf. We charge a fee for all quotes which is then waived if we are instructed to proceed with the work. The charge covers the cost of a visit and the time involved in preparing a report, including valuations for items written off, and for digital photography (we keep a digital record of all damaged items)

• we operate a separate workshop for finishing and polishing, essential for insurance work
• our polishing shop is run by colin Blake who has over 45 years experience
• we operate from a farm and always have plenty of secure storage space
• unlike most restorers, we also trade in antiques and run a shop in Woodstock called Woodstock Arts and Antiques, giving us greater knowledge about values, my partner Michael Jackson is an expert in china, glass, porcelain and objets d'art
• we also have close associations with Bonhams and Mallams in Oxford, who recommends us to their clients
• we do valuations for individual items or complete house contents, we can make a digital visual library of your valuables on a CD, which we keep an archive copy of in case of fire, this can be updated annually
• we offer a comprehensive restoration service, and also undertake upholstery, french caning, clock restoration, repairs to glass and metalwork, gilding and gesso repairs, we replace desk leathers, etc etc

Oxfordshire was badly flooded in July 2007. We prepared claims and write off valuations for over 30 separate households, and took on the restoration work of 25 of them. Most of these properties were severely flooded, we processed all the work through our own workshops, including all woodwork, polishing, upholstery and clock restoration, and stored all the contents on our extensive premises. We completed all the work on schedule and moved everything back into place as soon as our customers were repaired and habitable.
